Chlamydia Treatments Advice

Although Chlamydia is a widespread disease that is often difficult to detect, the good news is that it is completely curable and that the treatment is not complicated. Antibiotics are the most effective treatment for the cure of Chlamydia. The most common treatments of Chlamydia include a single dose of azithromycin or a week long treatment of doxycycline. Since Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease (STD), it is not enough for the affected individual to undergo treatment. Since Chlamydia is a disease that often has no symptoms it is very likely that if one partner is infected with the bacteria that causes Chlamydia then the other partner is likely also infected even if they are not displaying any symptoms. If only one of the partners seeks treatment for Chlamydia it is likely that the other partner will re-infect them with the disease. The partners should refrain from engaging in sexual activity until they have both completed the prescribed treatment. This will help to ensure that they have both eliminated the disease and are no longer at risk of re-infecting each other.

Seeking treatment for Chlamydia is recommended to maintain your reproductive health. You should seek treatment if you believe you are infected to avoid complications. There are indications that having an STD of any kind puts you at risk for developing HIV. For this reason, it is important that you seek immediate treatment for Chlamydia. While you are undergoing treatment it is imperative that you refrain from sexually activity and that you complete the entire treatment prescribed by your doctor even if your symptoms disappear before the treatment is completed. If you have Chlamydia, it is important to tell your sexual partner so that they can also seek treatment since this is a highly infectious disease, it is very likely that your partner is also infected even if they are not symptomatic. After your initial treatment is completed, you should obtain a follow up test to ensure that you are completely rid of the infection. Failure to do so can result in you re-infecting your partner. If you complete the treatment prescribed by your doctor and are still symptomatic, you should re-visit your doctor and make him aware that you are still experiencing symptoms. It might be necessary, at this time, to engage in more aggressive treatments.
